YOUR THURSDAY JUST GOT EVEN BETTER!

POSTED BY DAVE DELANEY ON MARCH 24TH

Why not finish your Thursday with your Geek Breakfast friends too? It’s Twestival folks! You shouldn’t miss this opportunity to hang out, have fun and help children at the same time.

Nashvillest writes:

It?s Twestival time, Nashville! This year, Nashville?s Twitter community is joining nearly 200 other cities across the world as we focus fundraising efforts on education and the 72 million children in the world who don?t have the opportunity to go to school. Concern Worldwide (@Concern) is this year?s beneficiary, chosen for their comprehensive and well respected approach to education. This is an issue that involves many different elements; hunger, water, teacher training, building of schools, etc. We hope to harness the power of Twitter users across the globe as a vehicle to give people insight into this cause on a deeper level.

Each participating city will host their event on March 25, and Nashville will join from 6-9pm at the private event space Avenue 9. It?s a giant tweet-up (yes, there?s a bar) and we?ll have some surprises to throw your way! A $10 donation per ticket is recommended, and tickets are available now at Amiando (we ask that you make your donation in advance if possible to help us plan for the evening).

For more information and continued updates about sponsors, event details, fundraising totals and more, visit TwestivalNashville.com and follow us at @TwestivalNash. We?ll see you on Thursday!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

POSTED BY ADMIN ON JANUARY 13TH

Happy New Year friends. Just a quick belated note to wish you all the best in 2010.

Our Geek Breakfast continues to be a great success each month, bringing together tech savvy people from every corner of this great city (and beyond).

I encourage you to please continue sharing photos, blog posts and tweets from our GBs tagging them “nashvillegeekbreakfast” and “geekbreakfast”.

This month I ran into some technical difficulties scheduling the breakfast through the admin side of this site, Chris is looking into it. So I went ahead and did it the old fashion way, through Facebook.

Please RSVP at the 7:30 or 8:30 breakfast, which are both scheduled Thursday, January 28th.

See you there!

FEEDING MORE THAN GEEKS

POSTED BY DAVE DELANEY ON NOVEMBER 19TH

Last year we held a December Geek Breakfast food drive for Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee. Together we collected two large bins filled to the top with non-perishable food items for Nashville’s less fortunate.

Each month we meet to chow down and gab about all matters geek. It’s important for us to recognize those who are truly hungry this (and every) time of year.

Please don’t forget to bring plenty of Peanut Butter, Canned Tuna, Canned Fruits, Rice, Beans, Macaroni and Cheese, and Canned Vegetables, or other Canned Meats, let’s bring LOTS of it! Here’s a link to a full list of items needed (PDF).

I’d love to see us double the amount we brought last year. I hope you’re up to the four bin challenge.

Thanks for helping. Happy holidays,
Dave

WELCOME TO GEEK BREAKFAST NASHVILLE

POSTED BY DAVE DELANEY ON OCTOBER 4TH

It’s with great pleasure that my friend Chris Ennis has taken much time and energy in creating the all new Geek Breakfast site. The original wiki was constantly being vandalized, it’s refreshing to have a much more stable and secure system.

Chris and his company, Fusion Interactive, have successfully created an easy way through Facebook Connect to have local GB organizers add their own custom landing page within the GB site. It’s an amazing way to keep us all connected!  Thanks a million for your help Chis.

I also want to thank Nicholas Holland for having his team at CentreSource come up with this new funky design for GB. I received several new logos and design ideas from friends when I put out the call for help on this, all were great, but Nicholas took it a little further. I love the new look.

First time here?
